If you do a Google search say for "Hyannis MA Pizza" the Google returns are pretty my a niche directory. Might have worked better in 2012, today certainly not so much. Unless I missed something?

Well organized, and good information on chords and which scales/modes are used for each palos and shows standard chord progressions for the palos.
Does not have all voicing for all chords (I imagine that would be impossible) but there are many.

Some minor quirks but a rousing good read.

I'm new to the Jack Reacher series but I have to say that I enjoyed this first book. I was interested in reading what other reviewers had to say: Author was charged with using the word "shrugged" too much. I never noticed, I was busy turning the pages I guess. Author was charged with using short, choppy sentences. Is that a literary offense? Because if it is, it's time to take Hemingway's work out and burn it, he having been critically lauded for years for that short, choppy style which is supposed to be very manly -- in a literary sense, I suppose. All I know is that I find old Hem's work mindnumbingly dull. At least Mr. Child keeps me awake, those choppy sentences lend a sense of urgency to the story. (Just like Earl Emerson's short chapters in 'Pyro'!) Author is charged with not being an expert on America. Neither am I and I've spent 48 out of 50 years here. Oh, and one review bemoaned the fact that somehow the author failed to realize the US has no Marines stationed in Europe, that we have no naval base there. Hm, I don't keep up with the exact locations of all US bases but I spent two years at Zaragoza Air Base, Spain, and when I was there, the US had a naval base at Rota. Author is charged with having a written a very violent book. Well. There you have me. It IS violent. If violence disturbs you, what the heck are you doing reading books in this genre in the first place? There was a great honking picture of a bloody handprint on the cover of the paperback I bought -- I would have thought that was a (you'll excuse the pun) dead giveaway as to the nature of this book. Oh, almost forgot. The author is also charged with too much coincidence in the brother/killing plot point. Stranger things happen every day -- gee, Bush got elected twice. I think THAT's stretching coincidence!

Yes, Jack Reacher is an anti-hero. Yes, the books has some flaws (as most every book I've ever read does). But I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to seeing Reacher's character progression in the next book. Do I think he's the next Lucas Davenport? Nope, not unless he gets a stronger sense of humor and a lot more sexy. But Reacher is verrrry interesting!

OK, I'm done defending the book. Now, here's the bit that bothered me: A top gun in the Treasury Dept drops out of sight and the Feds don't swarm all over looking for him when his prints come across the computer? A second Treasury Dept worker is brutally murdered in an airport and (1) it's the busy airport at Atlanta and no one sees it??? and (2) the Feds don't follow up on this either? Still -- I was able to suspend my disbelief long enough to overlook these things, just because I wanted to see what Jack would do next.

Jack Reacher can have my number !

I started with "Running Blind," Lee Child's third book, and finished it off in record time to jump back online to see what else Lee Child had written. The hero, Jack Reacher, was a military brat growing up, a military career man until the army downsized, and then became a drifter by choice. He's a one-man swat team correcting injustice as it finds him. In "Killing Floor" he just happens to get off the bus near the intersection of a small town in Georgia and after wandering on foot into the town of Margrave he is immediately arrested for a brutal murder which he obviously did not commit. He digs his way through several mysteries at one time including the identity of the murdered man. The suspense never lets up; there is a girl (a cop) that he loves but leaves with good romance and dialogue throughout. The only problem I had with the hero is that he arrives without any luggage and only occasionaly needs to buy a new outfit of clothes as he thows away what he has on at the time. He gives new meaning to traveling light. I'm going to quit writing now and start reading the next book..."Die Trying" I hope to see more of Jack Reacher after I have caught up with the next two.

What a Book!

Wow, what a book! Lee Child has given us perhaps the most interesting and complex hero in some time. Jack Reacher is Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and Arnold Schwarzenegger rolled into one...but with much more personality and pizzazz! I'm only sorry it's taken me so long to read Mr. Child's book!
The story is a riveting one, focusing on Jack's involvement in a crime in a small town in Georgia. Boy, does he make a mistake in deciding to stop off in this little burg, just to find out about a blue singing legend named Blind Blake. But, what a story unfolds. The dialogue is brisk, economical, and very involving! Along with Jack, there are a ton of characters that are so remarkably fleshed out and described, you would think this was a true crime story!
There are scenes of nail-biting action; very graphic and disturbing scenes of violence; and amidst all this some really well-written scenes of sensitivity and poignancy. Jack's meeting with an old lady who once knew the old blues legend is outstanding in its emotional punch! Paul Hubble, the neurotic banker; Roscoe, the beautiful policewoman; Finlay, the chief of detectives; and the evil villains are some of the best written characters in recent mystery fiction.
What is so amazing about this book is the way Lee Child has not only woven a complex murder mystery, but also a chilling tale of greed, madness, and lost loves and lives.
This is an emotional, wrenching debut, and I cannot wait to start in on the rest of this series!
An outstanding piece of fiction!

About the Author

Ronald B. Adler is Professor Emeritus of Communication at Santa Barbara City College. He is coauthor of Understanding Human Communication, Twelfth Edition (OUP, 2013), Looking Out, Looking In (2014), and Communicating at Work: Principles and Practices for Business and the Professions (2013). In addition to his academic pursuits, Ron works with businesses and nonprofit agencies to improve communication among coworkers as well as with clients and the public.

Lawrence B. Rosenfeld is Professor of Communication Studies, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His articles appear in journals in communication, education, social work, sport psychology, and psychology, and he is the author of books on small group, interpersonal, and nonverbal communication. His most recent book is When Their World Falls Apart: Helping Families and Children Manage the Effects of Disasters (2010). In 2000, Lawrence received the Donald H. Eckroyd Award for Outstanding Teaching in Higher Education from the National Communication Association, and in 2006 received the Gerald M. Phillips Award for Applied Communication Research from the same national communication organization. In 2012 he received the William C. Friday Award for Excellence in Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Russell F. Proctor II is Professor of Communication Studies at Northern Kentucky University. He teaches courses in interpersonal communication, interviewing, and communication pedagogy and won NKU's Outstanding Professor Award in 1997. Russ has also received recognition for his teaching from the National Communication Association, the Central States Communication Association, and the Kentucky Communication Association. In addition to his work on Interplay, he is coauthor (with Ronald B. Adler) of Looking Out, Looking In (2014).

Best Book on Ukiyo-E

Having been interested in oriental art for over the past 40 years, I purchased this book, in the hope of finding some color plates of woodblocks that are not often seen. When I received the book, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find that, not only was the book very good in explaining about the making of woodblocks, but also that this huge volume is mainly color plates of ancient to modern prints.

The book is handsomely designed, it is of a size that is great not only for research, but for coffee table browsing, and the plates are nearly all full page.

This is the best book I have found on the subject of Ukiyo-E. Anyone who loves Japanese woodblock prints cannot go wrong in purchasing this volume.

UKIYO-E UNLIMITED!!!

I bought this book along with another book called Images From the Floating World and I have to say this one is a lot more detailed in the images portrayed in it! The above mentioned book I purchased before this one was mostly black and white, yet it gave detailed descriptions on the artists. If you are a first-time ukiyo-e student, this one is the book for you!

This is an excellent survey of Japanese wood block prints. Prints are large and well arranged and the text is to the point and easy to understand. The book really cant be beet for its size and its price. My only complaint would be that some of the images may be slightly desaturated.

Excellent Collection of State of the Art Surveys

With pleasure I read this excellent collection on state of the art surveys on psychological aspects of the internet. The chapters are of very high quality and very comprehensive. The content ranges from motivational aspects of wikipedia participation over internet abuse and privacy issues to the use of the internet for psychotherapy and for conducting research.

Written mainly for the researcher and for students, the book is relatively dry to read, but at the same time it remains accessible even for the non-psychologist. It contains a wealth of information for anybody interested in the impact of the internet on our society.

A good study on Joshua

You may have thought the Christian life would be better than it is. Maybe you feel your life is in a rut. Lucado has some encouragement for you. Glory days are ahead.

He goes through the book of Joshua and gleans lessons to encourage us in our Christian walk. The Israelites had been enslaved, just as we were enslaved before salvation. The Israelites went through a wilderness, just as we may have experienced a wilderness journey because of our choices. Joshua dared believe there were better days ahead and so can we.

I like the way Lucado directs our vision to the Promised Land, not a piece of real estate but a state of heart and mind. God invites us to enter in but first we must turn our back on the wilderness.

Lucado says many Christians feel they are caught between Egypt and Canaan. They don't know about their inheritance. They don't believe it's true. Lucado gives encouragement from Joshua about acting in faith, spiritual warfare, believing what God says is true about you, receiving communication from God, trusting God to keep His word, and much more.

I liked this study on Joshua. Lucado gives good insight about the Christian life using Joshua and the Israelites as examples. I was surprised when Lucado said a recent survey indicated nearly nine out of ten Christians felt they were out of slavery but not yet in the Promised Land. This book helps us understand that God can close that gap between where we are and where we know we should be.

The strength of this book is in the extensive study guide. It is an in depth study so this book would be a good choice for individual or group study.

Another MUST READ for any Christian who wants "Glory Day" living

"Glory Days ... " by Max Lucado, is simply a glorious rendition of Joshua with lessons we can learn through another of Max Lucado's finest, not to be missed books, especially if you're in the midst of a battle or trial, in need of some encouragement and the strength to encounter your vision of the Promised Land that is yours for the taking of really, actually "...Living Your Promised Land Now." The contrast to the immigrants that first came to America seeking entering into a bright, new beginning is such a wonderful insight to how we too might seek our new beginning in Christ and God's Promises.

I just love the down to earth writings of Max Lucado, yet somehow this one is still filled with so much GLORY! It is sadly true that "Life has a way of taking the life out of us" so that "often we go through situations where the challenge seems so much greater than our strength" however Max has a way of teaching and retelling the story of Joshua in this new release of "Glory Days" with lessons that are still true for us today, where we can find hope and inspiration from Joshua, to move us from whatever our "wilderness situation" or wanderings may be into a new mindset of victory toward our own Promised Land. Max has a special gift of writing that makes stories in the Bible come alive as he relates Joshua to our own lives in a wonderful story-like fashion as if you can hear him actually telling you this and opening your eyes to grasping the truths so you can live this faith and believe the promises that your best days - our "glory" days - are still ahead of us.

After reading each of his 16 chapters of "Glory Days" that parallels with chapters from Joshua in the Bible, you will have a new, victorious mindset of "God Fighting for You" and giving you a new vision for your life where you can move "from a wilderness existence into a promised inheritance". And if you follow and do the *added bonus* included, you will be better equipped to deal with "Life" - your Christian life - following God's promises for every step and "Living your Promised Land Now" as more than a conqueror. The chapter that stood out the most to me, for me personally, was "Voices, Choices, and Consequences" wisely followed by "Pray Audacious Prayers" which I did and will continue to do, as I lean on God to fight my battles, learning this truth: that I (like those in Canaan with Joshua) not fight for victory rather from victory, the one Christ has already won and I cling to believing and receiving. "Heeding God's Word is more critical than fighting God's war." I do want the Promised Land life and desire the fullness of "Glory Days" ... I long to experience Canaan ("a life defined by grace, refined by challenge and aligned with a heavenly call") to the fullest, which I learned reading this (as if I did not know or hear this before) requires obedience to God's commands. As Max writes: "In God's plan, in God's land, we win more than we lose, forgive as quickly as we are offended and give as abundantly as we receive." Obedience leads to blessings and favor. "Security comes as we put God's precepts to practice. We're only as strong as our obedience." I need all of the benefits of obedience. Since I know I am a child of God's, I need to choose obedience since I am indwelt by His Holy Spirit, I am equipped and empowered for an eternal assignment, not an easy life but one that is blessed; hearing the right voice, making the best choice, enjoying blessing upon blessing.
"Obedience, " wrote C.S. Lewis in "Yours, Jack: Spiritual Direction from C.S. Lewis", "is the key to all doors."
Thankful to know it's the key for me and I do believe after reading "Glory Days" that I will have a "Crossing Over" moment or moments soon, because I now see the "potential of a Promised Land life" better and I will break forth from my many years of "wilderness wanderings" and "dry desert days" into fully experiencing more of God and His promises. I highly recommend this book as a small group study or individually. I was not at all surprised how much I loved and learned once again from Max Lucado, knowing that the truths in "Glory Days" is one book I will refer back to again and again to be reminded with God's help "I can ..." and even a not so favorite book in the Bible - like "Joshua" - due to its bloody battles and violence, can reveal how I will better embrace God's grace through times like these.

My favorite part is the Study Guide!

Live your promised land....

“Glory Days” is Max Lucado’s newest work and follows Israel’s move from the wilderness into the Promised Land. Using the book of Joshua, Lucado shows the successful leadership of Joshua and how we can apply the Israelite’s wilderness journey to help us enter our own Promised Land and the glory days God has for us now. We can live the life God intended–a life in our own Promised Land.

Lucado enumerates “Glory Days Value Statements” to help us leave fear and worry behind, deal with our doubt, demolish our strongholds, overcome rejection and dare to live. Joshua and the Israelites didn’t have the pleasure of seeing their future. We can look at their experience and glean wisdom from their successes and failures. Lucado does an excellent job incorporating modern testimonies and stories with the biblical account in Joshua.

The Israelites spent 40 years wandering in the wilderness, but we don’t have to. Just like the Israelites had the power of God, we also have God’s power to do everything He has called us to do. Also like the Israelites, we must believe God’s power is available to us and have faith in His ability to provide.

If you like Max Lucado, this will definitely be one of your favorites.
