George Mumford currently works with coach Phil Jackson and has consulted on each of the NBA championship teams Jackson coached. He’s also consulted with high school, college, and Olympic athletes, inmates, and corporate executives, and he is a sought-after public speaker at both business and athletic conferences, nationally and internationally. He lives in Massachusetts.

A member of the basketball Hall of Fame, Phil Jackson is considered by many to be the greatest coach in the history of the NBA. He was head coach of the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers and holds the record for the most championship wins as a player and a coach. Jackson currently serves as President of the New York Knicks.

George Mumford has written a must read for athletes and all of us. He discusses mindfulness as applies to sports and life as an understandable conversation with the the reader. He shares his own story and weaves the wisdom of the world's leading mindfulness teachers into a flow of aha moments that cultivate being in the moment and returning to that moment when we are distracted. There is a sense of humor in his writing and his personality leaps off of the pages. I have already bought copies for friends and I am grateful for George's gift to all of us.

A must read for everyone!

George Mumford takes a concept that can be off putting to some and makes it something everyone and anyone can relate to. I read this because I am very interested in mindfulness a true believer in its power but sometimes find it hard to explain it to those who are not yet convinced. I heard an interview with Mumford on NPR and decided to order the book. It is short, easy to read and makes mindfulness accessible to anyone and everyone. I have recommended this book to several people already and will be giving it to my 13 year old son who is an avid basketball player. Even if you are not a basketball player or athlete of any kind you will find this book enlightening. In addition to great explanations of how to use mindfulness and incorporate it into your daily habits, Mumford's advice on life and handling problems will be useful to all.

Your ability to distill Mindfulness down to the 5 Superpowers and connect them to day to day practical activities that create flow and energy is a gift. Lonely Planet has published a travel guide on Israel, or to be more precise, on Israel and the "Palestinian Territories", for many years. They typically update the guide every 2 or 3 years, sometimes it's four years. The new 2015 edition updates the one that was issued in 2012.

"Lonely Planet: Israel and the Palestinian Territories" (2015 publications; 440 pages) starts off with a general 40 page "Plan Your Trip" Section, including the "top 20" of must-see/can't miss sites (with plenty of full-color pictures of all 20), and other general travel trips (such as the important "Crossing Borders" insights). Then we get to the `meat and potatoes' of this guide, a 300 page section which brings highlights of the various regions (Lonely Planet has divided it up in 10 regions, such as Jerusalem, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Lower Galilee & Sea of Galilee, and later on The Dead Sea, The Negev, West Bank, and Petra). I read a number of those sections with great interest. Very impressed with the nitty-gritty details provided in this guide, down to the layout of various sites and even just individual buildings. The next section of the book is the 50 page "Understand", where the Lonely Planet editors try and give us a sense where things stand nowadays as between Israel and Palestine. Such a write-up could be disastrous but the editors did a good job finding a proper balance (even recommending `best films', and `best non-fiction' on the matter, such as the 2013 book "My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel" by Ari Schavit). The last section of the book is the 40 page "Survival Guide", with tons of uber-practical tips ("what to do in a missile or rocket attack", etc.). Bottom line: this book is contains TONS of great travel advice, and is richly illustrated in full-color pictures and maps.

I had the great fortune of visiting Israel a few years ago. I can honestly say that it was one of the very best trips I have taken in my life. The historical sites are jaw-droppingly beautiful (make sure to visit the Dead Sea and nearby Masada, in addition to the sites in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem). I must also point out that I never felt unsafe in the slightest while there. (I did not visit Palestine, so I cannot vouch for the chapters on the West Bank and Petra.) This trip far exceeded all expectations on every level, and truly memorable. If you are preparing for a trip to Israel, you could do a lot worse than reading this particular travel guide. "Lonely Planet: Israel and the Palestinian Territories" is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great guide. Except it was updated in June 2015

Great guide. Except it was updated in June 2015, and failed to mention mineral beach Dead Sea is closed due to sink holes! Besides this, which lead me to Ein Gedi (awesome) and eventually Kalia beach, great guide and I will use this company again.
